The Allan Labor Government is continuing to invest in ambulance infrastructure across Victoria, with a brand-new ambulance station in Paynesville opening its doors.

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh this week officially opened the new station alongside hardworking local paramedics – the new facility helping them do what they do best, save and change lives.

The station features a three-bay garage for ambulances, two rest and recline areas for paramedics to recuperate, longer term accommodation facilities, training facilities and a fully equipped kitchen. The station also includes improved security and car parking to improve paramedics’ safety.

Situated on Paynesville Road, the station’s location is within proximity to a number of busy community facilities and services, including schools, walking trails and nature reserves – ensuring ease of access in emergencies.

The Labor Government continues to invest in ambulance services across Gippsland, with the new station at Foster opening late last year and another new station at Yarram officially open this week.

They are three of 45 new branches completed across the state in the last nine years, as part of a $280 million investment since 2015 to deliver 50 ambulance stations, providing better working conditions for paramedics and ensuring lifesaving emergency care is available for all Victorians.

The Labor Government is also investing more than $200 million to improve access to emergency care across the state – including an additional $46 million towards training 40 MICA paramedics, getting 25 specialist paramedic practitioners on the road and supporting the new Centre for Excellence in Paramedicine.

To help paramedics meet demand and respond to the most time-critical patients, a further $108 million has been delivered to support the Secondary Triage Service and the Medium Acuity Transport Service.
