BURRA ABUZZ AS NEW FACILITIES SET TO OPEN

12 September 2023

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh visited 3 significant community projects in Korumburra today to check in on progress.

Principal John Wilson proudly showed off the massive new building works at Korumburra Secondary College.

The college received almost $13 million to upgrade and modernise the school, including the main classroom wing and works are now nearing completion. The upgrades transform the experience of secondary education in Korumburra and surrounds for local students, teachers, and parents.

Next up was John Davies and the Members of the Korumburra Men’s shed who are looking forward to moving into their new home soon after outgrowing their current facility.

This project has converted a disused railway shed owned by Victrack into a functional men's shed. The Men are getting involved with the build and lending a hand with internal fit-out and insulation, alongside other woodwork projects on the go.

Finally, the new Korumburra Community Hub is due for completion this Spring. The Hub will accommodate:

    • Library services

    • Milpara Community House services

    • Korumburra and District Historical Society

    • Multi-purpose meeting spaces / consulting rooms

    • Kitchen facility for catering purposes

    • Future provision for Council services

The external landscaping is well underway and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

These major investments in Korumburra have been funded by the Labor State Government alongside the South Gippsland Shire Council and the local community.
