The Allan Labor Government is inviting Peninsula residents to have their say in shaping plans for better bus connections between Hastings and Mornington – to improve access to jobs, shopping, healthcare and education.
Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams today announced consultation had begun on a new bus route linking Hastings, Tyabb and Moorooduc residents with key Mornington destinations, while also facilitating access to jobs and recreation in Hastings.
Changes are also proposed to Routes 784 and 785 which offer a more direct and faster link between Mornington and Frankston. This includes Route 784 starting to serve some areas in Mornington, such as retirement villages and the Mornington Racecourse, for the first time.
The changes to the Mornington Peninsula’s bus network are part of Victoria’s Bus Plan which is reshaping the state’s bus network to better meet demand and improve services.
Launched just over three years ago, Victoria’s Bus Plan has already improved bus services in more than half of Victoria’s 79 local government areas through the introduction of more than 200 new or improved bus routes.
In just the first three years, 83 local bus networks have been redesigned or strengthened, delivering better coverage and service coordination to meet the changing needs of the communities they service.
Consultation on Hastings and Mornington bus services will close by Sunday, 22 September – to have your say, visit engage.vic.gov.au/Hastings-and-Mornington-bus.
