The Allan Labor Government is making sure more kids across Victoria have the opportunity to play the sport they love, with new vouchers making participating in sport more affordable for families, so even more kids can join in the fun.
Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh MP today joined representatives of the Korumburra City Soccer Club, Korumburra Bena Football Netball Club, and Korumburra Wildcats Basketball Club at Korumburra Secondary College to announce funding for the Labor Government’s Get Active Kids Voucher Program, with a further $6 million invested through the Victorian Budget 2024/25 to extend the game-changing program.
Eligible families can apply for vouchers of up to $200 per child to use to assist with the upfront costs of memberships, registration fees, uniforms, and equipment across a wide range of sporting codes and recreation activities.
Almost 150,000 vouchers have been provided to families since 2020, with more than 50 per cent of recipients saying their kids would not have been able to participate in their favourite sport without the voucher.
From soccer to dance, there are more than 2,000 registered sport providers available for families across Victoria.
Families can apply for the vouchers online before redeeming them at a Get Active Kids Voucher Registered Activity Provider such as a local sporting club. Registered activity providers have until Tuesday 21 May to redeem vouchers for the current round of the program.
The program is open to Victorian children aged up to 18 who are named on a valid Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and named on a valid Medicare Card at the time of application.
Families are encouraged to subscribe to the email notification to find out when the next round of the vouchers start later this year at getactive.vic.gov.au/vouchers
