LAKES ENTRANCE PROJECTS FUNDED IN BUDGET

08 June 2023

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh MP was in Lakes Entrance on Wednesday sharing good news for the local community from this year’s Victorian State Budget.

There are three local projects for Lakes Entrance including an upgrade to Lakes Entrance Primary School, funding for planning a new indoor sports centre and a $250,000.00 investment in local jobs and innovation through GlaWAC’s Australian first Indigenous-run oyster farm.

All of these projects were commitments that Labor took to the election in November last year and all of these have received funding in the recent State budget.

Every family should have a great local school and Tom enjoyed touring Lakes Entrance Primary School with principal Simon Prior and hearing about the difference this investment will make to his school.

Tom also joined East Gippsland Shire Council Mayor Cr Mark Reeves and Deputy Mayor Cr Arthur Allen at the Lakes Entrance Aquadome sporting precinct to announce $800,000.00 of funding to plan a brand-new indoor sports centre in town.

They discussed the huge opportunity that this is for the local sporting community and how sport helps families stay active and engaged.

With these upgrades in Lakes Entrance locals will have more opportunities to come together while supporting the next generation of sporting greats.

“Grassroots sport is at the heart of local communities across Gippsland – and with this Budget, we’re investing in the upgrades and equipment local clubs need to keep our community moving.”
