MASSIVE BUDGET COMMITMENTS FOR MORNINGTON

16 June 2023

Labor Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh MP has been sharing good news with the local community from this year’s Victorian State Budget.

The budget includes lots of new investments for the Peninsula and today Tom visited Eastbourne Primary School, Rye Primary School, and Capel Sound Foreshore Reserve.

All of these projects were commitments that Labor took to the election in November last year and all of these have received funding in the recent State budget.

Every family should have a great local school and Tom enjoyed touring Eastbourne Primary School with Stephen Wilkinson who will commence planning for a $9.5 million project to upgrade and modernise the school.

Rye Primary School will also benefit with a $200,000 new playground. Rye Primary School Principal Lachie Featherston told Tom about the difference this investment will make for the students and that it wouldn't be possible without the State Government’s investment.

Tom also announced a $500,000 grant to the Capel Sound Foreshore Reserves Committee of Management to upgrade the campgrounds reserve. The investment in local infrastructure will help campers and locals to better enjoy one of the Peninsula’s best beaches.

The Reserve has been a vital source of tourism for the local community for decades, bringing families down to enjoy all the best of what the Peninsula has to offer.

These visits and announcements add to those that have already been made including:

• $10 million to rebuild the Dromana Pier

• $1.6 million for upgrades to Schnapper Point Boat Ramp

• $30,000 for Peninsula Home Hospice

• $50,000 for Southern Peninsula Community Support Inc

• $50,000 for Fusion Australia Ltd (Mornington Peninsula)
