The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to boost ambulance resources in Gippsland, making sure paramedics have the facilities and support they need to quickly respond to local emergencies and save lives.
Minister for Ambulance Services Gabrielle Williams today announced that builder McColl Smith Projects has been appointed to construct the new multi-million-dollar Paynesville Ambulance Station with construction kicking off in coming weeks.
The new Paynesville Ambulance Station will feature a three-bay garage for ambulances, two rest and recline areas for our hard-working paramedics to recuperate, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and improved security and car parking to make sure paramedics are safe.
Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership Ambulance Victoria, the new station will be located on Paynesville Road.
The location of the new ambulance station on Paynesville Road has been carefully selected and provides ease of access to local walking trails, waterways and nature reserves. It is also in close proximity other community facilities including schools.
It’s more welcome news for the local community - and our hardworking paramedics - with construction progressing on the new multi-million-dollar Morwell Ambulance Station and Foster Ambulance Station. This is in addition to paramedics already operating from two new ambulance stations in Moe and Warragul.
The Labor Government has invested approximately $279 million since 2015 to upgrade and rebuild ambulance stations to provide better working conditions for paramedics and ensure lifesaving emergency care is available for all Victorians.
The Government has expanded the paramedic workforce by more than 56 per cent since 2014 – an increase of more than 2,200 paramedics.
