Rosebud will welcome visitors from near and far for the Peninsula Film Festival in February with support from the Victorian Government.
Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh MP today announced the Peninsula Film Festival was a successful funding recipient from the Government’s $20 million Regional Events Fund.
The Peninsula Film Festival will use their Regional Events Fund contributions to support the operation of the 3-day Festival and raise the profile of the Mornington Peninsula as a visitor destination.
The event includes a Friday night launch where a movie is screened followed by a question and answer session and networking drinks.
Saturday will see thousands of people congregate at the Village Green in Rosebud to enjoy short films under the stars. Films will be judged live by a celebrity judging panel and compete for $30,000 in cash and prizes. There will also be live music, food trucks and market stalls.
The festival wraps up on Sunday with a filmmaking workshop where the public can hear from industry experts and have the chance to network with other filmmakers and learn the basics of making their own short film.
The Victorian Government is backing a jam-packed calendar of crowd-pleasing public events in regional and rural areas in 2023.
The $20 million Regional Events Fund is a critical component of the $633 million Visitor Economy Recovery and Reform Plan and supports festivals, sports events, creative exhibitions and other cultural celebrations.
The Regional Events Fund drives economic benefits to Victoria by increasing visitor numbers and length of stay, thereby boosting spending in regional areas and supporting local jobs.
Since 2016, the Government’s Regional Events Fund has funded more than 300 events across the state.
