The Red Hill senior and junior football, netball, and cricket clubs are set for the big games thanks to a game changing pavilion redevelopment at Red Hill Recreation Reserve.
Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh today joined representatives from Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and local clubs to officially open the upgraded pavilion, made possible by a $2 million investment from the Allan Labor Government.
With over 560 members between them, the Red Hill Football Netball Club, Red Hill Junior Football Club, and the Red Hill Cricket Club were recently struggling to cater for growing numbers in the old pavilion.
The pavilion upgrade has added two new female friendly change rooms, umpires’ change rooms and storage areas with the existing change room facilities also upgraded.
The revamped building provides the perfect base for the Red Hill Australian football, netball and cricket clubs to build on local memberships, training, competitions and development programs at the ground.
The Victorian Government has invested more than $2.3 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure over the past decade.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.
From new sports pavilions to scoreboards, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible facilities that allow Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.
These investments are also about creating jobs, stimulating local economies and fast-tracking community recovery by improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Tom McIntosh acknowledged Mornington Peninsula Shire Council for its more than $1.47 million financial contribution to the project.
