Children and families in Swifts Creek have a brand-new local kindergarten open locally thanks to the Victorian Government. 

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh today welcomed the recent opening of the new one-room modular kindergarten on site at Swifts Creek P-12 School, providing places to 34 more local children. 

The Swifts Creek venue is one of six services who shared in more than $22.8 million to create 608 new kinder places through the Labor Government’s Building Blocks Capacity Grants program. 

The new kinder will take pressure off local families by removing one stop on the school run, making drop-off more convenient for busy parents and carers, and helping with a smoother transition to primary school. 

Since building the kinder, run by Uniting Vic/Tas, the Victorian Government has also invested $100,000 in the kinder, so it can buy furniture through the Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment Funding Policy. This covers things like desks and chairs, fixtures like lamps, blinds, and equipment such as stoves, dishwashers, play and IT equipment, and medical items.   

The Victorian Government is investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state and deliver 50 early learning and childcare centres in communities where they are needed most. 

Through our Best Start, Best Life reforms, the Victorian Government is transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money, and support parents and carers to return to work or study if they choose.
